Dr. Cheryl Rahal
Dr. Rahal also came to Phoenix in February of 2002 with her husband, Dr. Neidigh and their daughter.

Dr. Rahal received a BS in Zoology from the University of Washington, Seattle in December 1988, doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in Pullman, WA in May 1994, and earned Board Certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in August 1999 after completing a 3 year residency program in Equine Medicine at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of University of California-Davis.

Dr. Rahal’s primary interests stem from her personal equestrian experiences and include equine perinatology, equine exercise physiology, and equine geriatrics.  Dr. Rahal’s area of expertise, perinatology, involves the medical management of high risk pregnancy in broodmares and the care of critically ill foals.   Dr. Rahal’s expertise in equine sports medicine and exercise physiology stems from her personal experience in endurance riding.  Finally her expertise in geriatrics has developed due to the aging of her own beloved horses.

Dr. Rahal practiced for 4 years in the Carson Valley of Nevada, working mostly with equine breeding farms, Arabian performance, Hunter Jumpers farms and the other regional agriculture such as sheep, goats and camelids (alpacas and llamas).  Dr. Rahal spent her first two years in Arizona practicing her expertise in Equine Internal Medicine.

Although Equine Medicine had been her career focus, Dr. Rahal has altered her career path to fit the needs of her family.  Dr Rahal practiced in small animal emergency and critical care from 2004 to 2007, utilizing her knowledge of the critically ill patient.  Currently Dr. Rahal has joined other full time doctors at Desert Hills Animal Clinic and is willing to see cats, dogs, miniature horses, goats, sheep, pot-bellied pigs, llamas, alpacas or anything else that can walk in the door.  (We'll leave the slithering & flying to Dr. Neidigh.)  Dr. Rahal is also available to the Equine World, through referral from your regular equine veterinarian as a Large Animal Internal Medicine Consultant.  See our Equine pages for more details.

Briana Morris, CVT
I have loved animals since I was a small child. I even had yearly yard sales and donated the benefits to the local Chino Valley Animal Control center. I grew up helping my mother raise orphaned puppies, kittens and birds. It was no hard choice for me to enter the field of animal medicine when I was old enough to get a job. At age 15 I started working with Prescott Animal Hospital cleaning horse stalls and quickly worked my way up to a kennel attendant/ technician assistant. In summer of 2007 I moved to Phoenix and began schooling for veterinary technician at Kaplan College. In December of 2007 I began working at Desert Hills Animal Clinic. I graduated from Kaplan in April 2010, and in September 2010 I passed both the state and national exams and received my license as a veterinary technician. I plan to continue my education and expand my interests in future years.

My hobbies include spending time with my husband, hiking, biking, camping, fishing and spending time with my two horses. If I can spend time outside I'm happy! I currently have 2 Springer Spaniels, a Border Collie, 3 cats and 2 Appaloosa mares. I love each and every one of them and am glad to be a part of their lives!
